Case Studies
We define success through innovative solutions for our clients. Often our clients expect a traditional exhibit, but often EXP Studios is able to bring much more high-performing results. Please find below several examples of visitor experiences built in recent years that go beyond expectation.
Martha’s Vineyard Museum
During the New England summer, it seems the world’s attention turns to MV. Summer home to the famous and site of the movie “Jaws”, Martha’s Vineyard maritime history is magical and legendary. EXP’s challenge and commission was to move the Martha’s Vineyard Museum from a sleepy house museum in Edgartown to a new $13 million dollar facility directly adjacent to the ferry port at Vineyard Haven. EXP elegantly resolved way-finding, exhibit design, ticket sales and funding recognition. EXP in addition to its expected design excellence was able to expand the site footprint through an open collection facility funded through concepts advanced by our principal leadership.
Newport Mansions
EXP Studios was hired to create exhibit content in the Preservation Society of Newport County’s new Visitors Center at the Breakers. The “Mansions” seen as an esteemed historical agency hosts over a million visitors per year. EXP was able to propose, get approval and implement technology at the ticket sales stations where the ticket sellers become curators of your experience, tailored to the 11 massive properties. EXP’s new technology and software design increased sales and fluidity of the sales process while delivering an experience which enhances the world-renowned site.
Angry Orchard Tasting & Production Facility
Commissioned by Boston Beer Company, EXP developed a sparkling new tasting and production facility for it’s Angry Orchard cider brand. A museum of the history of cider became a centerpiece of this commercial and authentic apple orchard facility one hour north of Manhattan. EXP served in a role of museum designer but also of art director translating a corporate brand into a physical walk through space. The resulting destination in Walden New York is a smash hit where one can see how cider is made and formulated, taste product, buy cool stuff and learn that cider was an American staple through our history.
Blackstone Heritage Corridor Visitor Center
Developed in conjunction with the National Park Service and the Blackstone River Commission, this visitor center gives focus, recognition and clear destination for the NPS site that spans 50 miles from Worcester to Providence. While the region and industrial revolution era is so critical to understanding American and regional history, the story is “hard to see”. EXP became a critical team member, collaborating with Design Lab Architects towards creating an LEED Gold site which recognizes humanities use of the environment for powering the future. EXP and collaborators brought forward history through a tangible and contempo- rary forum of ideas.
